SUMMARY:Lunch & Learn: Mary Joseph on the Georgia African American Historic Preservation Network
DESCRIPTION:DIVE INTO HISTORY WITH MARY JOSEPH: UNVEILING THE GEORGIA AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORIC PRESERVATION NETWORK.\nJoin us for an afternoon with Mary Joseph\, the African American Programs Coordinator at the Georgia Department of Community Affairs\, guiding us through a journey that explores the rich history\, inception\, and objectives of the Georgia African American Historic Preservation Network. \nEstablished in 1989\, the Georgia African American Historic Preservation Network (GAAHPN) gained momentum. In 2000\, the Georgia Legislature allocated funding for a full-time African American programs coordinator position within the Historic Preservation Division (HPD) to provide crucial staff support to GAAHPN’s volunteer steering committee. Recognition followed in 2006 when HPD received a National Conference of State Historic Preservation Officers (NCSHPO) Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation. This award celebrated the establishment of the nation’s first African American program in a state historic preservation office. \nGET YOUR TICKETS HERE
