Brett Bannor Explores America’s Unexpected History – Through Sheep
The Bartow History Museum invites you to a Lunch & Learn with Brett Bannor on Wednesday, October 15, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Bannor presents his book, American Sheep: A Cultural History, and reveals the surprising ways sheep shaped the United States. From wool shortages and wartime crises to meat production, industry, and even lawn maintenance, he shows how sheep connect to major historical topics such as slavery, industrialization, taxation, conservation, and labor relations – all brought to life through his engaging storytelling.
About Brett Bannor
Brett Bannor manages Animal Collections at the Atlanta History Center, where he cares for the institution’s domestic animals, including sheep. He has also authored several articles on natural and cultural history.
