The History of Soda Fountains: A Conversation with Justin Earl
Join Justin Earl, owner of The Jerks of Cartersville, for an engaging discussion on the history of soda fountains and the creation of Cartersville’s newest one. From their 19th-century origins in pharmacies to their rise as social hubs in American culture, soda fountains have played a significant role in community life. Justin will share the fascinating history behind them and discuss how The Jerks of Cartersville is reviving this cherished tradition.
About Justin Earl
A Cartersville resident since 1980, Justin Earl owns Cartersville Bicycle Service & Supply, PorkchopBMX.com, and The Jerks of Cartersville. He holds an MBA from Kennesaw State University, earned the rank of Eagle Scout, and is both a Class A CDL holder and ServSafe Manager certified. In 2023, Justin and his wife Rachel purchased the building at 6/8 S. Wall St. with the vision of restoring a piece of Cartersville’s past. After extensive renovations, they opened The Jerks of Cartersville to offer a unique soda fountain experience that honors a tradition dating back to the late 1800s.
