Sheep to Shawl: Watch Fiber Transform into Art

The Bartow History Museum invites you to Sheep to Shawl on Saturday, October 25, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join the Etowah Valley Hand Spinners Guild and the Peachtree Hand-spinners Guild for a live demonstration of the complete process of turning raw fiber into yarn and, ultimately, a handcrafted shawl. Guild members will show how to clean, card, spin, and weave wool, giving visitors an up-close look at this traditional craft.

Guests can watch, ask questions, and learn about the history and techniques of spinning fibers such as wool, cotton, and silk. Attendees also have a chance to win a handmade cotton shawl by Leslie Bronson in a raffle.

Admission:

  • Free for Bartow History Museum and Booth Western Art Museum members.  (Members check in at BHM front desk on the day of the event.  No need to register.)
  • $16 for non-members (includes admission to Booth Museum’s West Fest on 10/25/25)

Discover the artistry and history behind spinning and weaving, and experience the craft come to life!
