Unable to visit us? No problem! Formerly known as our Traveling Trunks programs, we’ll bring the experience to you! Our History Hangout presentations are designed to align with Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE).
- $60.00 per History Hangout presentation
- A $25 travel fee will be applied for locations outside of Bartow County
- Maximum of 30 students per presentation
- Each History Hangout presentation runs for a minimum of 45 minutes

Old Fashioned Toys and Games
Grade: Kindergarten & 1st
Embark on a journey through the history of toys and games, spanning several centuries. Engage in the creation of an old-fashioned spin top as part of the experience.

Pioneer Pathways
Grade: Kindergarten
Step into the shoes of pioneers and immerse yourself in their daily routines, both at work and at play, through hands-on exploration of artifacts, toys, and engaging activities. Additionally, gain insight into the educational experience of attending class in a one-room schoolhouse.

Cherokee Life
Grade: 2nd
Dive into Cherokee history through the examination of artifacts, gaining insight into their way of life. Explore the cultural shifts resulting from interactions with white European settlers and witness a blowgun demonstration. Test your skills of reading the Cherokee Syllabary through an interactive learning experience.

Colonial America
Grades: 2nd & 3rd
Embark on a journey about the original 13 colonies, delving into early colonization, the roles of merchants, farmers, women, and children, and the distinct characteristics of the New England, Mid-Atlantic, and Southern colonies. Engage in discussions exploring the differences between indentured servitude and enslavement.

The American Civil War
Grade: 4th
Immerse yourself in the life of an American Civil War soldier, gaining insights into their daily struggles. Engage in a haversack and knapsack packing activity to understand the importance of prioritizing a soldier’s items before heading off to war. Additionally, learn about the challenges faced by doctors and nurses as they cared for the sick and wounded amidst the hardships of war.
